Special Events

Rain can devastate any outdoor event. Protect your event against just that! A Special Events plan of insurance is a policy written for a very short term, generally only a few hours, and is meant for specific events that are susceptible to “rain-out”.

Some outdoor events that could benefit from this plan of insurance are (but not limited to) weddings, rodeos, church bazaars, softball games, concerts, fairs, and more.

This plan can be purchased through the Dyer Crop Insurance Agency and is provided/written by a company called Rain and Hail. Rain and Hail is a very large, stable company, that has been around since 1919! My husband and I have had our crop insurance policy with Rain and Hail for more than a decade and we have always experienced excellent customer service and a professional attitude.

While the Dyer Crop Insurance Agency, as well as Rain and Hail, are geared more towards providing risk management for farming operations, this Special Events plan of insurance would be a great policy to consider for anyone planning a large outdoor event.

This policy is written to indemnify the insured (your organization) for loss of expenses from the rained-out event.

How Rain Insurance Works

  • The application and payment must be received by Rain and Hail within 14 days prior to the event.

  • The insured period will be for a minimum of three hours and a maximum of twelve hours. The times of day the coverage begins and ends must be on the application.

  • The rain insurance rates will be quoted for one quarter, one half, or one inch of precipitation.

  • A rain gauge will be set up at the site of the insured event and will be monitored by a company representative or a disinterested third party (as agreed to by the company) during the prescribed time.

  • Rates are dependent on the time of year, hour(s) of day or night and the location the event is held.

I would love to get you a quote if you are interested in this plan, so please reach out with any questions you may have.
